Yet again I'm not really sure we fit all this stuff into our Monday session, it was another packed evening. Anyway here is the run down on the session:
![]()
Graham Brooks has been out and about for a little while but he's now back at the lathe. This time Graham sent over some photos of a chalice made for a competition, looks like a winner to me!
Ian Forster sent over some photos of some boxes ....now having passed 50 boxes from 50 different woods Ian is heading for 100 boxes from 100 different woods! So if you have any really unusual timber lying around please let Ian know and we can see the century of boxes done! You might also notice that Ian has been taking up some of the hints provided on photography...very nice photos!!
Jay Heryet has been spending money on a new toy tool in the shape of a Vicmarc VL240 to replace her Vicmarc VL300. The lathe arrived on a pallet from Simon Hope which left Jay wondering how on earth to get it into the workshop....so one of our number volunteered.
Julian Cleak sent over a photo of some timber given to him by a bowyer friend...this lot was described as firewood....Where can I order a cubic metre bag of that firewood then?
Kevin Purdy has been out at the lathe again turning and then carving a really lovely piece (as usual). Some really lovely colouring done on the leaves too!
Wee Beasties! Martin Dickinson gave us a presentation on the wee beasties that invaded his and several other workshops over the last little while.
Martin Stacey sent over some photos of a bowl with carving and his own version of a Quaich, as usual all very nice and some take up of the hints and tips on photographing your work.
Patrick Lindsay sent over a selection of photographs of some of his work including hollow forms and furniture, he even managed to sneak in a photo of a nice garden he had visited recently.
Phil Irons responded to Jay's call for help on handling the new lathe and then also removed the old one for her. I think he could get some new business cards done..."Phil Irons: Man with Van. Anything Legal"....or maybe we should just call him Phil the Van??
Richard Dickson is now the proud new owner of the VL300 lately owned by Jay and transported by Phil The Van. The unloading of the precious cargo was tighly supervised by Richards Labrador...Let's just leave it at that shall we?
As always we had several contributions from others so, if you showed something, then please do send over some photos you can do it from your mobile phone.... it's not that hard, just ask a teenager for help!!
DON'T FORGET: YOU SHOULD SEND OVER YOUR PHOTOS FOR MONDAY EVENING RIGHT AWAY FOLKS!!
Don't forget you can find the previous Monday Session Reports on the website just click here. You can also look at the images for each week by clicking here and look at the images for each contributor by clicking here.
Once again thanks to all of you for making these evenings such a success, if nobody contributed then none of these evenings could happen. Keep on making and, most important of all, keep on sharing!
Photos are below, as usual click on the little image to see a bigger version:
